Futon Covers
Futons Covers Are Great – But Without A Good Frame You Are Wasting Your Money
When futons first shot up in popularity one of their main selling points was the price. Now it is a much more complicated and sophisticated market, and we should certainly not be buying the bargain bottom of the range futons any more.
A far as interior design goes it is easy to change the impression of a room by changing some of the colors in it. For this reason the futon is a very good choice as the color can be changed easily with the huge range of futon covers now available.
However, if you want to be able to take advantage of this feature then it is essential that you invest in a frame and mattress which are sufficiently long lasting. As I said above, many people originally bought futons because they were a cheap option. I now do not recommend these futons. I think, as with most items of furniture, it is worth buying the very best quality you can afford; especially when it comes to the frame. The mattress can always be upgraded later, and covers can be bought at any time, but the frame is your main investment.
Once you have found a well built, easy to extend and retract frame you are now ready to look at the wide range of covers available.
There are two things which will define the level of luxury of your futon cover, the texture and thickness of the fabric. If you are going for a 100% cotton cover then the thicker the better. If it is thinner it is more likely to wrinkle and crease and will simply not look as appealing or comfortable. The cotton covers come in some wonderfully strong colors, but beware of black. It is easy to fall for the notion that black can be the base color and you can liven it up with accessories. The problem lies in the washing – nothing looks older than a faded black!
If you are prepared to go for some synthetics or synthetic mixes then there are a lot more options available to you. Personally, I love the soft suede feel that you can get now. These, purchased in a neutral tan or beige, can be accessorised with deep red and saffron colored cushions to create a feeling of luxury way beyond the financial investment you have made.
The advancement in futon frame design and the increased choice of futon covers means that we can all easily get stylish rooms in which we have not had to compromise on the level of comfort.
